Every year Ford F-Series builds on a record that may never be equaled, much less surpassed. For the 27th year in a row, F-Series is the No. 1 selling pickup truck.
What you want most is the available Ford F-150 XLT with the cowboy-tough 5.4-liter V-8 engine. Cinch yourself into this unit and you’re going to find out real fast what makes pickups the favorite of folks with lots of stuff to do. First, the thing hauls. It’s got a SOHC V-8 with electronic fuel injection, a four-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission and a genuine live rear axle with leaf springs, whirling U-joints and everything. And you can get a limited slip rear differential for just a few dollars extra.
One unexpectedly nice thing about the F-150 pickup is how well it handles. Granted, the term “truck handling” is usually an oxymoron, but the fact is that the F-150’s 126-inch wheelbase promotes a quick turning capability compared to its longer-wheelbase brethren, and its 41.8-foot turning diameter is the tightest of any full-size Ford pickup. No wonder the F-150 won just about every magazine award when it was introduced.
